Stormy in Ottawa

First shot is ISO 50, 6 second exposure, Second shot is ISO 50, 8 second exposure.

Alas, they didn't come out that well. The lightening is there, but there's just so much of it it's overpowering the camera's ability to discern between the bolts/sheets. Also, I'm shooting through the screen on the window, which doesn't help.

The thunder is rattling the windows though, and the street outside is a freakin' river.

Damn, I want a camera that can handle this stuff. And the cat's fuckin' freaked right the fuck out.

And there go the fire-trucks!

You totally need film to get these lightning strike, Mark! Either that, or specific instructions for getting lightning in digital! This "sky lit up" stuff isn't even CLOSE to what we're really seeing.

GREEN SKY. And the five pronged lightning strikes are just... I need a camera!!

The problem is my current camera doesn't have the feature set or lens to get the shots I want. If I had the D70s that I want, I'd be doing long exposure (30-60 seconds) with a very, very small aperture, and they'd look fantastic. It's about the hardware, not film vs digital.
